I've read a lot about Rohan and dunland proxies, has anyone found any good easterling proxies? Short of buying some extra e warriors I would like to make a dragon knight. I'm not keen on gw's take of them so I thought I'd ask around.

There really is nothing comparative that I am aware of, why not just buy the real thing before it goes OOP, and is relatively affordable on eBay as well?

I am pretty sure there isnt anything similar to the easterlings, maybe some chinese/japanese samourai style close to khandish.
But indeed you can find easterling warriors really cheap around. And many stores still have the 20/warriors boxes still available to save some further money.

I was just curious. They are so unique looking, I was just wondering if there was a comparable proxy.

What about mithil minis? I know they look different, but how do they compare size wise?

With the integral base, Mithril minis are noticeably taller. If you cut them off, or prop your GW minis on rocks or something, then the height difference isn't especially noticeable (I guess depending on how picky you are with scale).

One thing I've done for some converted dragon knights is to take a plastic Roman or Greek head wearing a masked helmet. Not sure why, but to me the helmets with faces sculpted into them for the Easterling vibe.

I think unaltered samurai are too iconic, but you could use them for parts. You could also try the Perry Brothers Korean Historicals, some in there might fit.
